Upon your arrival at Ivato international airport in Antananarivo, a member from our Team will meet you with a sign with your name and then transfer you to your hotel for check-in and overnight in the capital. If you decide to arrive early, take some time to get acquainted with the city. Perhaps head to Analakely to visit the permanent street markets. Your adventure will officially begin with a brief meeting at the hotel the following morning.

You will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Diego Suarez, where you will be collected at the airport. We then drive directly to the Amber Mountain National Park. Get yourself ready for a night walk that will give us an opportunity to spot nocturnal lemurs and reptiles.

Amber Mountain is the first park created in Madagascar, founded in 1958. The name comes from the flowers of certain trees that shine amber from afar. It protects a dense and tropical forest of where trees reach 40m high, and contains many orchids and ferns. The forest surrounds sacred waterfalls and crater lakes. This park shelters 7 species of crowned lemurs (Eulemur coronatus) and many bird species, some of them endemic of Northern Madagascar like the Blackbird of Amber Mountain. You also could find the strange Uroplatus allauaudi, a flat endemic gecko and the smallest chameleon on earth. Enjoy a few hours walk in this rich tropical rainforest that is home to a lot of endemic fauna and flora!

Today after breakfast, we head to Ankarana. The Park is in fact one of the most visited specially among hikers: it offers incredible trails, unique and terrific landscapes and a lot of animals such as crowned lemurs, Sanford’s brown lemur, Perrier’s black lemur, northern sportive lemur and dwarf lemurs, ring-tailed mongoose, fossa, tenrecs and Madagascar striped civet are also a common sight. There are almost 100 bird species, 50 reptiles (including some endemic and threatened snakes and geckos) and frogs in the park.

Besides, it is mostly known for its limestone pinnacles known as the Tsingy. Inside the spectacular and huge labyrinth of caves 14 bat species, local endemic blind shrimps and the world’s only known cave-living crocodiles are waiting for your visit.
We will explore the extensive cave system, which includes several fascinating bat-filled grottoes the same day, and the following day we will have a full day to visit the Ankarana nature reserve, where once again you will have the chance to admire the remarkably rich and varied vegetation and the abundant wildlife of the reserve.

Enjoy the drive through the tropical landscape of Northern Madagascar and a boat transfer that will take us to the Perfume Island. Nosy Be means “Big Island”, because it is the biggest island of the northwest coast and the most developed tourism destination of the country. We will have the afternoon to rest and relax at the hotel.

Today we will start this tour at 8am by heading to Mahatsinjo village to discover the history of the sacred tree of Nosy Be, and then we will visit the Lemur Land Park – a spacious and lovely park covering an area of 8 hectares, with many freely moving lemurs that you can feed bananas. It is located in the middle of a plantation of a plant called Ylang Ylang. After a good time at the Lemur Land Park, we will visit the Hell Ville market which is the best place in Nosy Be for shopping. Then it is time to have lunch on the best, most beautiful beach of the island called “Andilana” and relax for a while.

In the afternoon, we will visit the must-see mountain of Nosy Be named “Mont Passot”. It is the highest viewpoint of the island where you can enjoy a 360 degree view of Nosy Be, the Indian Ocean and some of the island’s twelve volcanic lakes. We’ll head back to the hotel after the sunset.

Right after breakfast, we head to Nosy Komba. On a combined tour of the two islands, it will be an experience of a lifetime to see wonderful animals, a lot of which cannot be found anywhere else on earth. You will be surprised by the different aquatic species, of all colours, that hide between the corals.

At Tanikely Island, we will have the opportunity to snorkel, visit the museum where you may spot some brown lemurs on the way and enjoy the panoramic view of the islands from the lighthouse. We will have a BBQ lunch here and keep exploring and relaxing on the beach till we head back at 3pm.

Enjoy breakfast and get ready for another day on the beach. We will leave Hell Ville at 8am and head to Paradise Island. Once ashore, we will walk into the finishing village then to the mountain to see the panoramic view of the island. Then we can relax on the beach, swim and take photos or try to find some turtle nests. After a great lunch of fish, rice, shrimp and meat skewers and some salad, we will have more beach time for relaxing and enjoying the amazing views before we head back to Hell Ville around 4pm.

Today is unfortunately the last day with Mada Discovery Travels in Madagascar. We will take you to the airport of Nosy Be for a domestic flight back to the capital Antananarivo. Depending on the flight schedules, you may have some time in the afternoon free to explore Antananarivo on your own. Those on the group flights will be transferred to the airport in the evening for the very early flight the next morning.
